About Me

For 25 years, I, Karl Larsen, have had the privilege of capturing the world's most spectacular moments through a camera lens. My journey with photography began with Rolling Stone Magazine, a platform that gave me the opportunity to work on distinctive assignments, encapsulating the essence of music, culture, and history. Throughout my career, I've been honored with a Pulitzer Prize nomination in 2008 for a 'breaking news' photograph, as well as standing as a top finalist in the Fujifilm X100VI photography challenge in 2024 under WPPI.

My passion has taken me from the grandeur of presidential inaugurations to the raw energy of the Olympics. Rock legends like The Rolling Stones and Guns N’ Roses have trusted me to capture their defining moments, both on stage and off. It's a surreal feeling, knowing that my photographs have become a part of their personal family albums as well as three band member's autobiographies (Slash, Duff, and Matt Sorum).

Born between the artistic milieu of Woodstock, NY, and the historic charm of Winchester, England, I've always had a keen eye for capturing the unique essence of a place. After earning my degree from Binghamton University, I packed my bags and moved to the heart of entertainment itself, Hollywood. Since then, I've had the opportunity to work on high-profile photography assignments not only across the USA and Canada, but also in diverse locations like Japan, Cambodia, India, Austria, England, Ireland, Portugal, and Brazil.

While photography is my first love, I also have a fondness for restoring classic cars, a hobby that allows me to appreciate the beauty of design and mechanics. I also enjoy skiing, a sport that teaches me about focus and resilience. But perhaps, my most cherished pastime is keeping up with my 12-year-old son on the golf course, a challenge that never fails to bring a smile to my face.

Currently based in Thousand Oaks, California, I cater to local weddings from Los Angeles to Malibu to Santa Barbara. But my camera and I are always ready to travel the world, eager to seize the fleeting moments that make life beautiful. My goal is not just to take photographs, but to tell stories, your stories, through the images I capture.
